Presenting:  Charles Rennie Mackintosh & The Glasgow Four Inspired Designs

This page of beautifully hand painted art coasters and table linens is part of an ongoing collection of art nouveau / art deco designs inspired by the fabulous "Glasgow Four" team of turn-of-the-century Scottish designers.  The Glasgow Four included the renowned architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh, his wife Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, J. Herbert MacNair, and his wife Frances Macdonald MacNair (sister of Margaret Macdonald).  These four were the leaders in the Art Nouveau /Arts & Crafts movement in Scotland, particularly in Glasgow. Their version of the Art Nouveau style had a very distinct Japanese influence with a subtle touch of Art Deco, making them a wonderful addition to many styles of interior decor including (but by no means limited to!):  Bungalow Style, American Arts & Crafts or "Craftsman" Styles, Mission Style, Prairie Style, Modern Style and many contemporary interiors as well.

All table linens are made of the same quality canvas, paints and sealers that are used in our floorcloths, and are very easy to clean up--just wipe with a soft damp cloth.  Coasters are made with a 100% acid free hardboard support, with a protective backing to safeguard your table top.  
Idea: Gift certificates for the home are a very personal gift!

Important information about sizing table linens: Our table linens are unique in more than one way; they are not designed to drape over the edge of the table.  They should lay flat on the table top extending to the table edge, or slightly smaller than the table top—this is what makes our table linens different from many traditional runners (and one of the things that makes them special!)—So please make sure you measure your table top to insure ordering the correct size.

Stylized Art Nouveau / Art Deco motif. The design has a raised silver-gray like painted outline on the design surface, reminiscent of leaded glass.  When the light hits them just right, there is an opalescent effect within the colors. Coasters have a heavy satin sealer finish.

This design was inspired by an Art Nouveau poster that CR Mackintosh designed for the Glasgow School of Art.  The background color is a deep blue with a touch of violet.  There are wonderful copper and gold metallic colors in the design, a delightful surprise!
